In Salta, Personnel Receive Training for Firefighting
Scientific
advances have arrived to this Argentinian province. Other cities are also
joining this pioneering, comprehensive training system.
Through this past week, the Argentinian city of Salta’s Firefighter
School saw the arrival of a series of simulators. These will allow
Firefighters all over the northeast region of the Southern country to receive
special capacitation.
Manuel Gutierrez, chief of Orán’s Fire
Department, announced that the containers would be turned into
simulators, and that they would receive support from highly trained personnel:
people trained in Chile, supported
by Italian firefighting specialists,
and by the National Council of Volunteer Firefighters.
This effort has made Orán the only place at the northeast of Argentina that offers this special training, which reaches the provinces of Cordoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires.
These simulators will help improve our
firefighters to face a multitude of dangerous situations. Gutiérrez said:
“We cannot be trained only in the theoretical aspects; we must also do live practices, reason why here at the institution, we started this far-reaching project.”
The simulators will help train personnel deal
with fire, smoke, dangerous materials, obstacles as well as rescues at
high-altitudes, depths and vehicular-accidents.
The civil
servant said:
“We are taking into account each and every detail regarding safety measures. A live simulation must be able to rely on the necessary equipment, as well as previous knowledge of the real situations.”
This project is a dream come true,
made possible by the funding of the
national and provincial governments
“we each received a million pesos,” the city of Orán
promised to provide, via highly qualified workmanship and the necessary
mechanical equipment, all the necessary assets for the proper set up of the
simulators.
Such is the people’s excitement, that architect
Rodolfo Castillo volunteered his own
resources, including his entire team, to support the firefighters training. In
union, there is strength.
